Gwalior Development Authority was founded in the year of 1979. The exact date of foundation was 5th October, 1979. The main aim of this authority is to develop Gwalior and surrounding suburbs into a well planned, balanced, and highly developed metropolitan city. GDA is totally structured under Madhya Pradesh State Governmentโs TOWN & COUNTRY PLANNING ACT, 1973. The Gwalior Development Authority works under strict administration and jurisdiction of MP Governmentโs Housing & Development Ministry.
GDA is taking every necessary step to develop the entire city. GDA is providing a suitable base/platform for the common people to participate in development process. The authority sells land plots to common people at minimal price range. Also, investing in land properties in authorized colonies is always considered a safe and sound choice. These colonies are planned, designed, and developed under strict supervision by GDA. As a result, they are furnished with every necessary utilities and facilities.
Primary function of Gwalior Development Authority is to control & regulate the entire development process. Construction of residential housing apartments is undertaken by several private developers. But these developers only work under guidance and supervision of GDA. Any private developer can come up for the construction process with a blueprint of the plan, but approval letter needs to be issued only by GDA. If planning does not meet with the requirement of GDA, then it becomes difficult to get an approval from the Authority. If GDA fails to carry on with the housing development projects, then the entire task is shifted to TCPO (Town and Country Planning Organization).

As of 28th June, 2012, Gwalior Development Authority is going to launch a new housing project at Scheme 2-A, Gandhi Road. The total land area available is 8124.64 Sq m. Consultants, real estate agents, and other private town planners are invited to take part in this project. Those who are interested should send the OFFER along with terms & conditions and a demand draft of 10,000/- INR by registered post by 16th of July 2012. The demand draft should be drawn in favor of C.E.O. G.D.A. as E.M. OFFER should include every necessary stationary expenses & tax expenditure.
Booking for flats (Madhav Plaza) at Sachin Tendulkar marg is also going on presently. It is another fine initiative of Gwalior Development Authority. Booking Application form can be submitted in between 04.06.2012 till 25.06.2012. The application form can be submitted in the office of Gwalior Development Authority or at the branches of IDBI Bank.
