Ghaziabad is an important industrial city in the Indian state Uttar Pradesh. It is only 19 km from the eastern side of Delhi. From Meerut, it is near about 46 km. This city is also the capital of Ghaziabad district.
Municipal Corporation of Ghaziabad is popularly known as Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam. The municipal corporation was established on August 31st, 1994. The present mayor is Damayanti Goyel and commissioner is Jitender Singh. The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has been divided into 4 major administrative zones: Kavi Nagar, City, THA, and Vijay Nagar. The entire area is divided into 80 wards.
The primary objective of this municipal corporation is to provide the best of facilities to its citizens. It offers sufficient water supply, maintains the right standard for health, safety, and hygiene, and offers perfect sewerage and drainage system. The municipality is also in charge of maintaining bridge, flyover, subways, and roads. Presently, the municipality has undertaken construction of several educational institutes health centers, as well some public recreational centers like parks, auditoriums, and exhibition hall. The municipal corporation is also responsible for passing approval for different building plans and construction works in the city. It also regulates different type of taxes on properties according constitutional acts.
