Hyderabad is the capital city of Indian State, Andhra Pradesh. It is situated on the southern part of India, on the banks of River Musi. It is one of most industrially developed cities in Andhra Pradesh.

The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad was formed in the year of 1960. The exact date of formation was 3rd August, 1960. However, there is a long history prior to the formation of this new municipal body. Before 1869, the entire municipal administration was looked upon by the city police department. In the year of 1869, the Nizam of Hyderabad formed the first municipal body. A separate commissioner was appointed to look after the municipal board. During that time, the total area under municipality was 55 sq. km. However, it increased to 84 sq. km by the year of 1921. In the year of 1933, the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act was passed. In the year of 1960, the MCH was formed. However, from April 2007, the corporation came to be known as Greater Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. More associated municipality bodies were merged into it. Thus, one large and single municipal organization was formed. 12 municipalities from Rangareddy & Medak districts were merged.
