Karnataka Housing Board
Karnataka Housing Board or KHB was formed in 1962 under the Karnataka Housing Board Act. Taking over the developmental responsibilities of Karnataka state from the Mysore Development Authority, KHB undertakes housing projects to provide decent and affordable shelter to the inhabitants of Karnataka complete with all the basic infrastructural amenities.
The functions of KHB Karnataka include recognition of new project site, designing the basic layout of the Karnataka Housing Board Schemes and then supervising the implementation of these KHB Housing schemes. Land development as mentioned under the Karnataka Housing Board Act and subject to the jurisdiction of the Karnataka State Government are also categorized as KHB projects.

KHB provides housing facilities to all at affordable prices under the LIG, MIG, and HIG categories. The basic infrastructure facilities that follow by KHB Karnataka include asphalted roads, electricity and drinking water supply, adequate sewage and drainage system etc. The townships developed by Karnataka Housing Board also include commercial complexes and in the bigger projects even entire Commercial Plazas are planned with provision for retail outlets, entertainment zones and small offices are provided.
The maintenance of these amenities is the responsibility of KHB until it hands over the Scheme to the local Municipal Authority.
