The Mumbai Housing & Area Development Authority or MHADA has announced new project in Mumbai and adjacent areas. Under this new scheme of MHADA, flats for the Lower Income Group (LIG) and the Middle Income Group (MIG) will be constructed within a period of 4-5 years. The MHADA flats so constructed are slated to be priced reasonably to make them affordable to the lower and middle income groups they are targeted at. As announced by the MHADA office, the MHADA flat rates will lie between Rs. 7 -10 Lakhs and Rs. 15 lakhs respectively.
MHADA properties constructed in end 2007 registered record number of sales with thousands of application forms. The MHADA lottery system was adopted to allot respective flats. As soon as the projects by MHADA India get materialized in Mumbai, Malad, Goregaon, Versova, Sion, Powai etc., the MHADA form 2008 would be announced.
The MHADA flats price range for the lower income group (people with income 1.2 LPA or less) with an area of 450 – 485 sq. ft. is kept between Rs. 6.5 – 9.5 lakhs. Whereas, high-end flats in Powai are priced around Rs. 2,200 as compared to the market price of Rs. 5,000 per sq. ft.
